Making Blockquotes

Posted January 13th, 2007 by Mike Cherim

A blockquote is used to indentify and mark-up a quoted block of text. Making a proper blockquote is easy. Just do it like this, being sure to actually write in the paragraph tags (<p></p>), as shown:

 <blockquote>
  <p>This is a block of quoted text.
   <cite>−−This is who said it</cite></p>
 </blockquote>

And that will produce the following with this theme. The end-quote is attached to the cite element.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Pellentesque vehicula elit molestie sem. Ut sed tellus. In lobortis faucibus urna. Sed scelerisque mi in quam. Praesent lacus sem, aliquet et, pulvinar quis, facilisis egestas, lorem. –Latin man

That’s it. Easy, huh?
