Contact Form Plugin

Posted January 18th, 2007 by Mike Cherim

Once you activate this plugin on the “Plugins” page it is recommended that you then go to the “Contact Form” page (”Configuration” tab). There you will go through the configuration steps. You will be able to do most of the configuration but you will have to come back to this page to finish.

I recommend you enter make the following choices (not all are shown, some are entirely up to you):

Section 4 of 7:
Choose “no” to the “Show form heading?” option.
Section 5 of 7:
Choose “xhtml” to the “Choose XHTML or HTML?” option (xhtml is the default setting).
Also, on the “Stlying” page:
Choose the “beastblog-v2.css” theme. Make sure this file is writable if you want to edit it.

Once you’ve gone this far, then you need to go to the “Write” page and select the “Write Page” tab. Enter a heading such as “Contact Us,” choose the “Contact” “Page template” (see the sidebar on that page) and save the page by clicking the “Create new Page” button.

Important: Do not enter the <!−−gb_contact_form−−> line that is normally required to activate this plugin. You may enter additional content on the page, though. The additional content will show up before the contact form. If for some reason you want the additional content to be displayed after the form go to the “Theme Editor” on the “Presentation” page and enter follow the instruction in the “Contact” template file.

After you have this part of the configuration completed, then go to the “Theme Editor” on the “Presentation” page and enter “activated” in the “CONFIG-FILE” to add the related posts links on your single post pages — all styled and ready to go. No fuss, no muss. See the configuration page for more information about this step. » Removed. No longer necessary with build #B20070406.01 and newer.

The next step is to go back to the form’s “Configuration” page “Contact Form” page (”Configuration” tab) and enter the “Form Page URL.” Once this is done your contact form should be styled and operation. Test it to make sure. See the “Help” page — “Help” tab on “Contact Form” page — if you get stuck.

To install this plugin add the entire “wp-gbcf” folder to your blog’s “plugins” directory.
