Version 1.1 Available

Version 1.1 is now available after having made a few changes. This version is available three different ways, depending on your needs. Here’s an explanation of these upgrade options as well as an explanation of what was done and why:

Complete Changes Overview

The following files were changed:

  1. 404.php: Being that I have my own custom error pages on this domain, I was unable to properly test the WordPress 404.php error page. When setting this theme up on someone else’s domain, though, I did have a chance to test it. It was fine, but not perfect, so I worked on this file. It is now perfect.
  2. sb_v_token.php: This is simply passing along the new version number. No other changes made.
  3. generator.php: This file is confirming and processing the new version number. Moreover, a change was made to deal with heading focus backgrounds for better, more thorough, focus background color management.
  4. USERS_CONFIG.php: One extremely minor config file layout change made.
  5. USERS_MODS.php: Two notes were changed to reflect changes to two default color values. See next item. Also, the Author Pic file format default was changed.
  6. style.css: Two default values were changed (as indicated in the USERS_MODS file). The default text color was changed from value #666 to #333, making it a bit darker. Also, the default link color was changed from value #999 to #777, making it a bit darker as well. The version number was also changed to a static v.x.x. value. Additionally, the CSS heading was modified slightly to present the theme demo site link.
  7. sb_readme.txt: Other than the version number being updated, no changes were made to the instructions.

This file, USERS_FUNCTION, is yours for adding such blog add-ons as flickr, Skype, and other non-WP goodies. Do try to keep items added to this section at around 120 pixels or less in width to prevent the sidebar from slipping in IE on 800x600 resolution monitors. Need to add CSS styles for items in this box? Easy, use the USERS_CSS file to do so. Then validate!

Blogger’s FarBar

This file, USERS_FARBAR, is yours for whatever you wish. Text in simple paragraphs, <p></p> lists, whatever. This is a liquid-width column. That said, you should to keep whatever — fixed-width item — below 120 pixels wide. Again, that concerns fixed-width items, self-forming, liquid items like text in paragraphs will adjust its own width. If you must place a slighter wider item, you can use the USERS_FUNCTION or USERS_SIDEBAR file to do so, but do note that that too should remain thin at only 162 pixels as it is a fixed-width column.

Added Headings!

You can also add headings in these user files. As many as you like. On and on she goes, where she stops. nobody knows! Do remember, though, in these file you have to use proper XHTML. Of course, this content can serve as example to you. Need even more help? Well, professional help is available.
