WAT is Up with GrayBit?
It’s been a while since I brought up GrayBit. No news is often good news, but sometimes it just means no news. The online grayscale conversion tool made by Jona and I has been in active use since it was first announced, and then later updated. Since that time the tool has seen 111,471 page views, 32,541 conversions, made by 18,094 unique visitors. But that’s not why I’m writing about it today. Yesterday the WAT or Web Accessibility Toolbar was released for Opera, and guess what? Yep, GrayBit is on it.
The WAT for Opera was made by members of the Web Accessibility Tools Consortium. Namely Cedric Trevison of The Paciello Group and, our contact person, Steve Faulkner of Vision Australia. This is a version of the original Web Accessibility Toolbar, but this version that can be installed on the Opera web browser. This tool bar can be quite useful if you’re a web developer, especially if accessibility is a concern. And with GrayBit on it, its value has been increased by one measure. Good stuff for everyone. Kudos to you and Jona. You’ve worked hard (probably) to create a useful tool that will help accessibility and it goes to show other people think it’s useful too. Now, if you could just redraft WCAG 2.0 in it’s entirety by about … thursday?

Thanks guys. I’m way too lazy to re-write the WCAG 2.0. It’d end up being just a couple of pages. Hey, wait, that’s what we really need
