Explode Your Blog
Promoting your blog is probably up there a bit on your priority list of things to do. It makes sense. You go through all this trouble to write hopefully good articles so naturally you want them to be read and commented on. There are myriad ways to help you get this done… to be found and read, anyway. You have common spider submissions, good use of headlines, regular updates and new articles, tweaked keywords, a solid description, and the SEO list goes on. But there’s more you can do.
One thing you can do is to do a little feed management to make it easier for people to successfully subscribe. My friend Jonathan recently wrote an article called FeedBurner is a Good Thing which explains just one of the options out there. I thought it was a pretty cool thing so I signed up. I now have a FeedBurner Feed so people have a nice RSS interface from which to work.
Another thing you can do is sign up for one of the several services out there to specifically help you generate blog traffic. I recently signed and created a profile at Blog Explosion. I think it’s a pretty cool service. Some parts of it are just plain silly — yet strangely addictive — and can eat up time, but they are effective. Some of the special offerings at Blog Explosion include.

- Blog Support and Live Chat, which will also earn you points.
- A Blog Lottery (coming in November)
- Monetary-like Points system (Credits) to buy banner impressions and advertising.

I’m sharing this as it seems to be a fairly well thought-out service and it does work. Blog Explosion members can view specific stats so there’s no guesswork in this statement. Maybe I’ll see you there. We can let our blogs do battle sometime.

I forgot to mention a really cool and useful feature. Blog Explosion has a Ping-Back Service powered by a very troubled but cool Pingoat.com — which of course offers this on their site. It works like this: You go to the site page linked above, and if you’re logged in, you can choose your blog from a pull-down select, tick the checkboxes (click category headings for “all”) for the applicable services you want to Ping1 your blog, or “Ping-Back.” The purpose is to tell these aggregator- and subscriber-type services that you have updated your content and to ensure they pick up/update the feed in a timely manner. This is especially important if you’ve just published urgent news. There are limitations, though, as you can only do this every twelve hours to prevent abuse. It’s generous in my opinion.

You’ve actually done the best thing by joining Blog Advance.
I’m just approving your blog and I saw this and thought I should respond.
Joining a number of traffic exchange sites and directories will get your blog read. So long as you keep your content interesting you will always get return visitors.
You should also join Blog Advance’s forum where you can promote your blog further and meet people who will come and read your blog for longer than the 30 second rotation timer and it’s also been proven that people who are members of the BA forum are getting return visitors because things are more relaxed and you can meet people who have common interests with yourself.
