Celebrate Fireworks MX
So, what is it I like so much about Fireworks?
I have a number of imagery software programs, but I must say that one of my all-time favorites is Macromedia’s Fireworks MX. I have entered in discussions about this awesome program before and have discovered that I am indeed a minority in this preference, but there are others like me — the majority, of course, prefer Adobe’s Photoshop CS.
So, what is it I like so much about Fireworks? Well, it’s very full-featured for one. Moreover, I find it an extremely intuitive program to use. Granted, I have been working with images for years, since 1993 if my memory serves me — starting with Microsoft’s PaintBrush for a few years, moving up to CorelDraw, and some Lotus program which I can’t seem to remember the name of — but I think Fireworks sweeps the rest. PhotoShop included, though PhotoShop is amazing. I once purchased Microsoft’s PhotoDraw and thought it was pretty cool, but its output was just awful, even when pushed to 100-quality, zero compression. It did do wonders with TIFF images, though, and I still use it for such as I have done and do extensive desktop publishing (once using Adobe’s PageMaker and, now, using Adobe’s InDesign). I have become a hardcore Fireworks fan. It probably shows, I’m making this blog entry after all. Enough said.

Totally agree Mike
Fireworks does pretty musch everything you need and in my opinion offers some of the best compression for the web available. Simple to use too.
What are your thoughts now Adobe has bought Macromedia - are we going to lose one of our favourite programs?

Call me old fashioned, but if I get stuck with my MX I think I could live with that.
