Design is Shades of Green and Other Colors
Design is not a meme — or maybe it is — but either way I decided to jump on the bandwagon and give it a go myself. Just for the fun of it. Click here to view or download my contribution or click on the inset thumbnail. Want to see what others have done? In addition to Veerle Pieters’ and the lastest one from Roger Johansson, check out this extensive collection on flikr to view the 143 of them loaded there so far. Fun stuff. Enjoy my green desktop!

I have one 14″ iBook with a max resolution of 1024×768… and you mean to tell me there are 143 desktops that fit the “Design is…” theme? What am I supposed to do?
I’ve got the orange version Inman did. Everyone is making them huge though… shame really. Maybe I’ll go make one. *opens Photoshop*

If you center it in your preferences, shouldn’t it fit? The center portion as designed to fit within 800×600 — if I centered it correctly that is. Please let me know, if not, I’ll make different sizes.

Actually I just tried it. The preview won’t look right, but it you set it as your desktop and instruct it to be “centered” it’ll look good. Stretch will work too, oddly enough, but the text is a little rough.

Yeah, they all seem to stretch nicely (center throws most of them to the left of the screen). I just did one really quickly.

Just realized my iBook has an option of “rotating” desktops after a given amount of time. I’m going to download a bunch of them now.

Center worked for me, Joshua (on Windoze), but hey, whatever gets the job done

I still prefer this one I made a long time ago since I prefer a dark desktops. This one I’ve been using for two years plus, yet I’m still not sick of it. I call it WorkSpace and its made specifically for 1204×768 resolution monitors. It’s a big file but seems to serve its purpose well. It took hours to make.

Mike, just give me a few months to become accustomed to astrophotography and I’ll give you a desktop to be both proud of and amazed by!

Very cool Mike. Please get me a picture of “The distant rock formally know as Pluto!”
