RSS Newsmaker Released
It sure did take awhile but the GreenBeast CMS RSS Newsmaker plug-in, created by Jona and myself, has been publicly released. To learn more about this long awaited plug-in, see the official GreenBeast CMS News Article. Feel free to comment on the release here, or on the original Version 1.1 Release Post. Enjoy, the thing’s pretty cool I think.
If you would like, you may download the RSS Newsmaker plug-in from the site. According to our records, the CMS itself has been downloaded 551
times and the new RSS Newsmaker plug-in has been downloaded 328
times.

We had an update to the release. The update offers a new variable “$realpage_url” in the file “gbcms_xml/xmlrss_script.php” to help those with a service like FeedBurner link back to their displayed news page.
I should add that we are expecting to release one more update before it’s shifted from beta status and incorporated into the next full CMS release (v.1.2). The second upgrade needed is a limiter. It’s tricky as we must keep the XML file untouched… think of it as a database, yet, we also need to limit what’s sent to the services, like FeedBurner, to 256kb. That’s a lot of text/mark-up — 256,000 characters of it, 100 articles or so, depending on length — and it might take a year to fill up, but we must address this before it happens.

We just released the “final” verison of our RSS Newsmaker. This last step was to add a limiter file for the outgoing feed to prevent being shutout by services such as FeedBurner who have a limit to feed size (256 kilobytes in this case).
