Counting Clicks with PHP
A rather simple PHP solution to help you count your clicks.
If you know me, you know I like stats. I’ve got no problem with putting a hit counter (though not a rented or external one) on one of my sites. In fact my Home Page has one at the footer. It’s just for my portfolio and doesn’t record my unique blog hits — approaching 10,000 — that’s kept on a separate counter which isn’t displayed. You might also notice the counters I have on my blog’s side bar. I like numbers. It’s good to know if anyone’s online, how many visitors I’ve had, or how many times something has been downloaded. If I didn’t count these things, I would never know that my Beast-Blog theme, for instance, has been downloaded almost 2000 times as of this writing. And trust me when I say I would have never guessed the number would be so high. Unlike my site hit counter which maintains an IP address list and records unique hits only, the click counter doesn’t record unique persons downloading, but each number represents a link-click and subsequent *.zip file download. Yep, numbers can be interesting, and telling.

GreenBeast CMS v.1.3 Public Release!
No longer available. Project discontinued.
Announcement: Version 1.3 of the GreenBeast CMS has been finally publicly released. It has myriad new features and improvements. It even comes supplied with not only the fully integrated RSS Newsmaker and a PHP Contact Form (similar to the GreenBeast PHP Contact Form, but it also comes complete with three XHTML 1.0 Strict and highly accessible ready-to-use, plug-’n'-play web pages, all at no charge: A Home Page, a News Page, and a Contact Page with a form. All for Free!

RSS Newsmaker Released
It sure did take awhile but the GreenBeast CMS RSS Newsmaker plug-in, created by Jona and myself, has been publicly released. GreenBeast’s PHP Contact Form
There’s been some interest in my PHP contact forms lately as a few people have asked about them. Most notably my latest one, the one on the Contact Page on my portfolio Green-Beast.com has been brought up. I told a few people I’d post it here since there’s interest. Plus, considering how many people have helped me, well, I enjoy the opportunity to give something back.

Chat > Metamorphosis > Live Support
On my company’s main website, GreenMethods.com, I decided to implement a new feature using an earlier version of Chategory, a PHP-powered chat application, and a little imagination. The feature: “Live Tech Support.” Less “chat,” more business. No longer is it put to use as a social tool, but now as a tool to help visitors, I’m hoping this’ll be a good usage of this web software. I’m calling it GreenMethods Live.

GreenBeast CMS v.1.1
It has taken a while, but I’m really quite pleased to announce the release of GreenBeast CMS Version 1.1. This marks the second phase of a fairly long-term three phase (plus) project which will culminate with the release of v.2.0 down the road a piece.

PHP Function: Latin-em
There are many instances where a word or phase, or an array of such, require special treatment. Case in point: Latin names, specifically, for this example, insect names. In the scientific community insects are not regularly called “bugs.” The have a taxonomic binomial (two names) to which they are referred. This is a worldwide practice. This ensures, in this example, that entomologists the world-over stay on the same page. It doesn’t always work as I can think of several deviations from this rule, but it is the rule.

Hide Email JavaScript
As a rule I never write an actual email address on a web page. Now, please note that I’m not talking about the page which is displayed, but rather the one that is written. The HTML part; what’s made in NotePad or whatever it is you use to write your mark-up. The part that is crawed by spiders looking for stuff like that. It’s all about privacy and trying to limit my spam intake.
