1000+ Downloads

Posted December 7th, 2005 by Mike Cherim

Anyway, I’m a little amazed by the volume.

I looked at the counter this morning and realize that the Beast-Blog Theme for WordPress has been downloaded over a 1000 times. Wow. So tell me, dear theme user, you like it? Is it working out for you? I know of some users’ implementations that seem to be working well for them. Anyway, I’m a little amazed by the volume. It’s only been available since Oct 22nd.

Great News for Rotten Smellers

Posted November 21st, 2005 by Mike Cherim

Oops, I meant to write “Great News for Rotten Spellers. Silly me. Anyway, I have some great news about some software I downloaded that will help me spell things correctly — and it may help you too. But let me back up a bit. To those who’ve been on the receiving end of instant messenger with me know just how bad my fingers can type. I am one of those people that must have spell check. I can spell just fine, but my blazing fingers don’t check with my brain before adding characters to a correspondence. I make lots of mistakes and must go back to find them. It’s a pain, but I deal with it. But I admit it, I need spell check. So what do I foolishly do the other day? Yep, I accidentally deleted my computer’s spell check utility. Uh oh. Here’s what happened.

Chicletification and Sloppy Code

Posted November 14th, 2005 by Mike Cherim

Just lately, after learning more about this blog promotion and “feed” stuff as I mentioned in a previous post, I have decided to put a little more effort into getting found by people who read blogs. After all, if more people come to this blog and read my stuff as a result, then that’s probably a good thing. It could lead to web design opportunities, all sorts of good stuff, right? So I took a half day and ventured forth on the web in hopes of being properly Chicletified. Here’s how it went…

Explode Your Blog

Posted November 11th, 2005 by Mike Cherim

Blog Explosion Promoting your blog is probably up there a bit on your priority list of things to do. It makes sense. You go through all this trouble to write hopefully good articles so naturally you want them to be read and commented on. There are myriad ways to help you get this done… to be found and read, anyway. You have common spider submissions, good use of headlines, regular updates and new articles, tweaked keywords, a solid description, and the SEO list goes on. But there’s more you can do.

Resisting the Urge

Posted November 1st, 2005 by Mike Cherim

I changed the rules around here. The spam was getting a little foolish. Now, if you include a single link in your comments, the comment will now require a moderator’s approval. Sorry to all you legitimate posters out there. You will be approved quickly. I don’t want to discourage people from posting links, but with an average of three completely irrelevant links per comment was getting kind of annoying.

GBCMS Mania (II)

Posted November 1st, 2005 by Mike Cherim

How cool is this? I got an instant message from Jonathan Fenocchi last night in which he pointed me to his latest blog entry. I came to learn that apparently someone really likes the layout and CSS styling of our GreenBeast CMS Content Management System and the web page made to support it, and submitted it to the CSS-showcase site CSS-Mania.
